True Wealth is Health

Health has become a buzz word that has lost its’ true meaning.

I used to live a very unhealthy lifestyle. I would eat until I was beyond full. I’d cook creamy alfredos and eat fully loaded baked potatoes many times a week. Within a few years, I gained 40 pounds above my healthy average weight. I felt terrible about myself and knew something needed to change so I started research more about health.

There was a lot of conflicting information.

Tons of diets I could choose from.

and it was confusing.

I got into clean eating, fad diets and body building.

Counted my calories and macros.

And I thought because I was actually shedding weight and looking thin and fit,

that this is what it must mean to be healthy.

But I was a high achieving, addicted-to-busy-being and this became another achievement milestone that drove me down a road of chasing for more.

This eventually led to extreme burn out.

Through having a meditation practice and become more connected to my body,

I began to uncover the true meaning of health defined by my own experience.

To have great health means to heal so that we can know who we truly are

Dis-ease stems from being dis-connected from our True Nature.

Our body’s ability to heal stems from the energy we draw in or out and the thoughts that we think but also from our environment.

When you have a reliable meditation or spiritual practice, you strengthen your physical, mental and spiritual well-being and increase your capacity to heal.

You become more self-aware and learn how to honor your needs versus ignore them.

You become more attuned and less distracted by conflicting information while trusting yourself more.

When you have Supreme health, you have the greatest wealth of life.

You can live your life with a pep in your step, an ease in your energy and serve in your purpose (dharma).

I invite you to take time today to prioritize your own well-being and to heal all that is ready for healing.

Ultimately, I am grateful for my health journey.

Each part of it, (even snuffing the fully loaded baked potatoes at 3 AM and the buffalo chicken pizza dipped in ranch and ketchup to quench the alcohol) has led me to here where it will continue to flourish in it’s way unique way.

I hope you can take sometime today to reflect on your health journey and be grateful for it too.

How else will we get to learn, right?

All my love,

Sandy (Shanta)
