This is home
There is a stain on my shirt from the delicious street corn I devoured at the beach shack down the road but I don’t fret because it means that I got lost in it and enjoyed myself. The shack came highly recommended for its fresh caught fish, I’m talking fish caught by a spear the same morning, and it sure did live up to the hype. We walked down the palm tree enclosed path and as my daughter saw the water, she said “this is my home.” It made us both melt inside. As we walked along the beach, a couple was collecting shells and the man walked by Riah and gave her the tiniest baby sand dollar I’ve ever seen — like a little loving whisper from the ocean.
Another couple next to us playing beach ping pong had the best island music and I found a new song to add to my Spotify playlist- Good Time by Niko Moon ft. Shaggy. They were from Boca Raton and decided to come to the west coast of Florida to relac for a little get away. Periodically, we would make stops to let our daughter explore where ever her little feet wants to wander. As we stopped to let her splash in the water, I pulled Zach in to kiss him because something about watching the man you love be the best father to your child together makes him extra sexy and lovable. The water was a crispy turquoise blue, the salty air filled our lungs as we wandered down the shore soaking up the sun while thinking to ourselves—
wow, this is our home.
It’s been 4 years since we packed our bags and moved down south.
Being here and the wild journey we walked through to get here is a daily reminder for me to keep taking risks, to keep leaning into the wild, uncomfortable uncertain unknown—because sometimes, you don’t just land somewhere new…
you land somewhere that feels like home—
the most at home you’ve ever felt ❤️
Just a lil short journal entry if you will for some updates because I don’t know if it’s just me but I miss the days when the internet felt more intimate, connected, less like a personal brand and more human and heartfelt. Maybe it’s just a sign I should do this more often. Anyway, sending love til next time and thank you for being here in my cozy corner of the internet. 🍵
Warmly,
